Speech - Tryst With Destiny (15th Aug 1947)

Tryst with destiny (Jawaharlal Nehru's Speech)

Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not entirely or in full measure, but greatly so

At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new. It is then that the soul of a nation finally finds its voice. Today, we end a period of ill fortune and India discovers herself again.

The ambition of the greatest man of our generation has been to wipe every tear from every eye. That may be beyond us but so long as there are tears and suffering, so long our work will not be over.

Freedom and power bring responsibility. That responsibility falls upon this assembly

To the people of India, we make appeal to join us with faith and confidence in this great adventure.

To the nations and people of the world we send greetings and pledge ourselves to cooperate in promoting peace, freedom and democracy.

And to India, our motherland, the ancient, the eternal and the ever-new, we pay our reverent homage, as and we bind ourselves afresh to her service.

Jai Hind:'

I Know My Seasons

I know my seasons (poem)

As sun rises early and the heat irritates,

... Holidays help me sleeping till late

I dont track time and neither the dates

...I feel like that King - Alexander the great!

As I laze around all day acting like a hummer

I know that season, it is called summer

After summer, the rains do come,

...It brings happiness to the birds who hum,

I feel like dancing to the beat of drum

... getting wet in the downpour feels absolutely awsome

Hmmmm, I do catch cough & cold pretty much soon

I know that season, it is definitely Monsoon

As the Monsoon is on... we wish it stalls,

...to welcome the time some call - "The Fall"

Even as festival season starts to entrall

I delve into the freshly harvested fruit haul

And as My study time hits rock bottom,

I know that season, it is called autumn

And then comes the time which I love utmost,

...as we all wait for year-end the most

The days are shorter, the nights like ghost,

...the temperature dips lower than the lowermost!

And as I celebrate with the stars that glinter

I know that season, it is my lovely winter

So Yes Sir, Yes Maam... I do know my seasons.

Thank You.

Bengal - The rich culture

Bengal - The great culture

Bengal, 1947 ke pehle ek bada rajya hua karta tha. 1947 mei desh ke vibhajan ke dauran, is mahaan rajya ko dharmic aadhar par do bhagon mei baant diya gaya - poorv-bengal aur paschim-bengal. Poorvi-Bengal ko Pakistan se aazadi dilane mei bharat ne wahan ke aazadi ke sainikon ko bahut bada sahyog diya. Aaj poorvi-bengal ek poorna desh hai jiska naam hai - Bangladesh.

Pashchim-Bengal (jise hum aage Bengal ke naam se bulayengey) bharat ka ek abhinn ang hai aur iski mahatta shabdon mei bayaan nahi ki ja sakti. Iski Rajdhani, kolkata, ko humare desh ki sanskritik rajdhani bhi kaha jata hai. Nobel puraskar vijeta Shri Rabindranath Tagore Bengal ke ek mahaan putra hain, aur humare desh ki shaan hain. Woh is vishwa ke aise ek hi insaan hain jinhone do deshon ka rashtriya gaan likha, Hindustan aur Bangladesh. Unse prerit ho kar unke ek Sri-Lankayi chatra (ananda samarakoon) ne Sri-Lanka ka bhi rashtriya gaan likha.

Bengal ki bhasha "Bengali" hai. Bangaliyon ko "machh aur bhat" khana bahut pasand hai. Unhe meetha khane ka bhi bahut shauk hai, jaise Hilsa, Roshogolla, chomchom, kalajom, sondesh ityaadi. Bangali mahilayein jyadaatar paramparagat "shari" (saari) hi pehenti hain aur purush "panjabi aur dhoti" pehentey hain.

Bengal ka sabse mahatwapoorna tyawhaar Durga puja hai. Is samay purey dus din Maa Durga ki puja ki jati hai. Anya tyawhaar jaise poila baishakh, basant-utsab, kali puja bhi badi dhoom dhaam se maya jata hai.

Bengali apne sanskritik pratibha ke liye jane jatey hain. Chahe woh gana ho ya paramparagat nritya. Wahan ke log Baul lok sangeet, Gombhira, Bhawaiya, Rabindrasangeet, Narzul Geet bade hi chaav se gate aur gungunate hain. Aur Purulia ka Chau nritya (mukhauta pehen kar nachna), aadiwasi nritya aadi wahan ki lokpriya nritya shaili hai.

Bangal ke log khel-kood ke diwane hain. Humare desh ke kayi mahaan football khiladi, cricket ke khiladi isi pradesh se aaye hain. Par Footbal yahan ka sabse pasandeeda khel hai.

Bengal ne humare desh ko film jagat ke kuch mahaan hastiyaan di hain jaise Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Tapan Sinha ityadi.

Bengal ke abootporva yogdaan ke liye humara poora desh inka rinni rahega.

Thanks.

Meri Dilli (Delhi) meri Shaan

Meri Dilli Meri Shaan

Dilli...

Salaam karti hun main Dilli ki police ko, jisne apradhiyon ka har baar mun todh jawaab diya aur Dilli Police ka naam poorey desh mei roshan kiya.

Doston, Is shaher ney sabko apnaya... aapko, mujhe - hum sabko. Dilli mei na koi punjabi hai, na marathi, na bangali hai, na bihari, na hi tamil hai na assami... hum sab ek hain... hum dilli wale hain!

Mitron, Lal Quile ke diwan-i-khas par likha Amir Khusro ka yeh chandd mano dilli ke liye hi kaha tha unhone - ki "Agar firdaus bar roo-e zameen ast, Hameen ast-o hameen ast-o hameen ast"... ki, agar is dharti par koi swarg hai to woh yahi hai yahi hai... yahi hai.

Aise Dilli ko mera sat-sat pranam.

Dhanyawaad

Sochti hun main

Sochti hun main...

Sochti hun mai ki jab sabko yeh aabhaas hai
Paani jeevan ka hai strot fir kyon nahi ehsaas hai?

Bade bujurg keh gaye keemti ek ek boond hai
Sochti hun mai ki fir, kyon yeh aankhein moond hai

Him, Nadi, saavan, ghata sab kar rahe prayaas hain
Sochti hun main ki fir, kyon badhrahi ye pyaas hai

Badhtey Udyog, rasaayanik kachra kat-tey paed, badhti aabadi... sabkuch barbaad kar rahey
Fir Sochti hun mai, ki kyon nahi hum kuch kar pa rahe

Kya karoon kaise karoon, kaise samjhaoon in sab ko,

About India & Australia

A speech about India & Australia

When I was asked to be a part of “Finding Stuff Out” project on “Discovery Kids” Channel, I was very excited. I was also very happy and thankful to be collaborating with James Oven, who is a very proud Australian with great knowledge. I was also overjoyed to learn new things about Australia as I am sure James was about India.

Let me list a few facts about India & Australia that we both found very interesting!

- Australia is more than double the size of India whereas Indian Population is more than 50 times of Australia
- Australia is 4 and a half hours ahead of India – so if we are having breakfast in India – Australians will be having their Lunch!
- Australia has 4 seasons – Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn. All equally distributed around the year
- India has Winter, Summer, Monsoon, Post-Monsoon (i.e. Autumn). Monsoon being the longest season and Winter the smallest
- Australians prefer sun-bathing & surfing, playing Beach-Volleyball on beaches during summer, whereas Indians love to go to Hill Stations to cool-off in these times!
- We eat similar kind of Fruits/Vegetables in Summer season like Mangoes, Cherries, and eat almost similar vegetables
- Australia celebrates Halloween on 31st Oct at around the same period as India does Diwali, on 4th nov 2013
- In Halloween, Jack-O-Lanterns are lit, whereas in Diwali, Diyas/Candles are lighted
- And finally, kids enjoy both the festivals in large numbers

I have learnt a lot about Australia and India during the activities, hope you did too.

Thank You!
