Republic Day – Poems

Republic Day – Poems
(For Ruhin Raghuvanshi)

Poem 1: “Kaise The Who Log”
Maine poocha Papa Se...
Kaise the woh log
Jinhone ladi aazadi ki ladai,
Kaise the woh log
Goli khate seeney par
Kaise hongey woh log
Jo hans kar dete balidaan
Oh... Kaise hongey woh log

Papa ne kaha...
Apney ko chota, desh ko badaa maney
Aise they woh log
Aazadi ka Kafan baandh nikalte the ghar se
Aise the woh log
Desh ko mantey apni maa
Bus... Aise the woh log

Maine poocha...
Desh ko mane apni maa
Kya ab bhi hain aise log
Desh ke naam dein balidaan
Kya hain ab bhi aise log
Karein desh ka ooncha naam
Kaise baney hum aise log?

Papa muskuraye aur bole...
Jhukao na sir kabhi kahin tum
Tirangey ka apmaan na kabhi karo,
Maano Hind ko dharti maa tum
Uski raksha mei tatpar raho,
Vinamra bhav ko apnao tum
Sabka samman kartey raho,
Sachai ki raah par chalo tum
chot shareer pe sehtey raho.

Vishwaas hai humey - ek din tum
Banoge zaroor waise log.

Poem 2: “Republic Day - Facts”
Rupublic day of India, It is today alright,
Let us remember the reason... get our facts right

Constitution of India was adapted this day
1950, 26 Janurary, was our first Republic day

Its the longest written constitution... ever to be made
My fundamental rights & duties were clearly laid

22 Parts, 450 Articles took 3 years to make
12 schedules, 5 Appendices are the icing on the cake!

I am proud to be Indian, I want to shout out loud
Ambedkar and his team have made us proud!

And as I salute them, with tears in my eyes...
My tricolor flies... in the clear blue skies.

Poem 3: “Gantantra Diwas – 2013”
Kal Eid aaj republic day hai, Kal hai Sunday...
Chuttiyon ka bhaiyaa - ye adbhut mail hai!

Manayen hain Eid, fehra liye Jhandaa...
iske baad to doston bas khel hi khel hai

Purna swaraj aur republic day ka yeh kaisa mail hai
Khoob likha samvidhaan, humara to yahi holy grail hai

yaad karo un veeron ko - yeh na koi fairytail hai
Unke saamney to babuji - humara jeevan fail hai...

Tirangaa mera Jhanda, udtaa jab gagan mei...
Iske saamney to mitron - har jhanda pale hai...

Aapka saal shubh ho, doobein aap khushiyon mei
Khoob manyein yeh din... arre har jagah - bhaari sale hai!

Speech of Subhash Chandra Bose

Subhash Chandra Bose (Addressing INA on Radio Burma - 1944)
(Note: Speech shortened to help small kids recite)

Speech in English:

Friends! Twelve months ago a new program of ‘Total Mobilization' or 'Maximum Sacrifice' was placed before Indians in East Asia. You have given me total support in the same. I have also fulfilled my promise.

Friends, one year ago, when I made certain demands of you, I told you that if you give me 'total mobilization', I would give you a 'second front'. I have redeemed that pledge. The first phase of our campaign is over. Our victorious troops, fighting side by side with Japanese troops, have pushed back the enemy and are now fighting bravely on the sacred soil of our dear motherland. Gird up your loins for the task that now lies ahead. A long fight is still in front of us.

We should have but one desire today - the desire to die so that India may live. My comrades in the War of Independence! Today I demand of you one thing above all - I demand of you blood. It is blood alone that can avenge the blood that the enemy has spilt. It is blood alone that can pay the price of freedom. Give me blood and I will get for you Freedom.
